Salaries of 1,700 to 2,500 euros per month and lack of candidates: driving school teachers are sought

Driving school teachers are missing. The National Confederation of Driving Schools (CNAE) made an appeal a few days ago after assessing that currently there would be a lack of about 3,000 teachers to meet the demand of the more than 8,000 driving schools in the country.

The driving school teacher is a profession that in recent years has suffered from shortages, as has happened with truck drivers, and where it is believed that many young workers could have entry.

“Some are needed. Being Spain among the European countries that lead the largest number of unemployed, especially among young people, we see that in the driving school sector there is a great job opportunity,” said Enrique Lorca, president of CNAE.

Requirements and salaries of a driving school teacher

Interested persons need to certify the Road Training Teacher Certificate issued annually by the DGT at the state level, together with Trafikoa (Basque Country) and Servei Catalá de Transit (Catalonia). And to obtain it, they have until the first days of February to be able to present their request, public at the DGT.

From the Professional Association of Training Companies in Logistics, Transport and Road Safety (Formaster), it is stated that driving school teachers are “a sector that does not have high levels of unemployment and that has an average salary between 25,000 and 30,000 euros “.

Added to this are recent offers such as those from the startup Onroad, which seeks to create a fleet of driving instructors for its platform.

The driving school company to give those practical classes. The people who are chosen will be hired by the platform with a salary that will start at 1,700 euros per month (gross), which can be increased according to the experience of the teacher.

Driving school teacher will be FP

This offer comes at the same time that a new Vocational Training graduation is being considered to train precisely as driving school teachers.

The degree in Superior Technician in Training for Safe and Sustainable Mobility will thus replace the current Certificate of Aptitude for Road Training Teachers, an approval granted

The cycle will last two years with a total of 2,000 teaching hours and 120 ECTS credits. The students, who as a requirement must have a type B and type A2 driving license to take the second year, will be trained in training and road safety, but also in notions of mechanics and first aid.

The new FP will also be characterized by the trend of recent years and will dedicate more than 20% of its teaching period (220 hours) to work practices. In addition, students with a completed Baccalaureate will have access preference.
