See positions in Joomla templates –

It happens to us on many occasions, that we are going to add a new module to our Joomla, and we do not remember the module positions in the template. Each template will have some positions defined for the modules that it has recognized; these positions will therefore be different from one template to another.

In Joomla 1.5 all we had to do was add the parameter “tp=1” (from template positions) at the end of our Url. It would be for example:

In Joomla! 1.5 the option to preview template positions was enabled by default, but in Joomla! 2.5 and 3.X it is necessary to activate the preview of the module positions since it is deactivated by default.

If you want to know how you can see these positions in a simple way, keep reading!

To activate it we must access the administration of our Joomla –> Extensions –> Template Manager –> click on Options

In Preview the position of the modules We change from Disabled to Enabled and click on save and close.

With these simple steps we will have the positions of our template visible by accessing the url, which will make it easier for us to manage our Joomla website.

Also in Joomla 3 we have the possibility to preview template positions directly from the web administration.

To use this option we must access the administration of our Joomla –> Extensions –> Template Manager. To the left of each style we will have an eye-shaped icon. Clicking on it will open a new window or tab of our browser where we can see the preview of that style with the positions. Please note that admin templates cannot be previewed.
