Strike at Ryanair: how much does a low-cost airline crew member earn

Ryanair cabin crew (TCP) are still on strike causing the start of the summer vacation period to be affected.

The USO and Sitcpla unions called a strike for the cabin crew (stewardesses and hostesses and other workers) for June 24, 25, 26 and 30 and July 1 and 2, at the airline’s ten bases in Spain: Madrid , Malaga, Seville, Alicante, Valencia, Barcelona, ​​Girona, Santiago de Compostela, Ibiza and Palma de Mallorca.

Although Ryanair agreed to an agreement and a salary improvement with CC.OO., these unions have continued with the strike because they understand that they do not represent the majority of the workforce.

Salaries dependent on extras

Knowing the salary of these workers is not easy and it varies depending on a multitude of bonuses, allowances and extras.

The Workers’ Union and the Union of Airline Passenger Cabin Crew (Sitcpla), reported at the time that the salary of the TCP is around 15,000 euros gross per year and could rise to 22,000 with allowances, bonuses and extra pay .

In portals such as Indeed or Glassdoor, in which workers share their salaries anonymously, there are several records that match this figure, which range between 16,000 and 17,000 euros gross per year. This would mean 1,330 to 1,500 euros gross per month.

To these salaries, in the opinion of the unions, very low in comparison with other airlines, are added conditions that they believe can be improved.

According to the unions, the TCPs still do not have the right to the 22 working days of annual vacation to which all workers in Spain are entitled, nor the 14 national holidays. They also point out that workers do not receive their pay slips following the legal model or in Spanish.
