The body of a page

The body is the part of the web page where all the information regarding the contents of the page is presented to the user.

The body of the page is the part of the web interface that presents users with specific information on a particular topic. Therefore, it is the part of the page that identifies and individualizes it from the rest of a website.

If the lintel identifies the website and the navigation systems allow the user to navigate through its contents, the body of the page will be the showcase where they will see the information they are looking for, the point where we can communicate with them directly on a concrete and determined question.

Being the most important part of the interface, the space allocated to it must be the largest of all, generally occupying between 50% and 85% of the total. Its location is always central, under the lintel (if there is one) and next to the side navigation menu (if there is one).

The specific contents of the body of the page will vary depending on whether it is a textual page, a form, a file, a table or a mixed page, but apart from these particularities, which we will study later, there will be some characteristic elements of this area, which must be generally present in all cases.

For example, it is common for the central body to carry a title that clearly identifies the page that the user has accessed. This title will be located at the top of this area, and can be reinforced by a “breadcrumb” type navigation menu.

The size of the letters in the page title must be larger than the rest of the content, in such a way that it stands out from them, an effect that can be increased by giving it a color that gives it greater visual weight. In this case, it is not essential that the page title be larger, as long as it stands out sufficiently due to its color contrast.

It is also common to visually differentiate the central body from the rest of the page, either by using a different color for it, or by leaving empty spaces around it that clearly separate it from the rest of the interface elements.

All the graphic elements that we place inside the body of the page must have a similar appearance to the rest of the interface elements, respecting their general design styles.
