At 79 years old, he has a degree in Law and Journalism. Despite his age, his activity is incessant. Not for still. And he is on his way to cover his 50th royal wedding. Before Doña Letizia was born, Peñafiel was already a prestigious reporter and did not always dedicate himself to the society chronicle.

Married twice, with only one daughter who he lost in 1995, Peñafiel eats only once a day. He doesn’t drink or smoke. “Except cigars in the field.” He walks six kilometers daily. Weekends he spends in Toledo where he rides horses for four hours on whole horses, without gelding.
When he published Juan Carlos and Sofía, a portrait of a married couple, the King told him: “Why don’t you speak less?”
He currently has a contract with Tele5 for which he receives a fixed salary regardless of the number of programs. Peñafiel writes in other publications and still maintains his collaborations with La Cope.
