This is the second class of the , offering essential guidance on how to think about a theme and get all the inspiration a designer needs to turn it into an impactful website.

This class was titled “Practice Safe Design, Use a Concept” and was taught by front-end developer Naiara Abaroa @nabaroa, CSS crack and productivity tools in the area of web design. If you want to know more about Naiara you can visit her website:

Theme and concept in web design

Before starting any development task, we need to think about the theme of our project and there are two fundamental elements to develop that idea: the “theme” and the “concept”. Given these two ideas, the entire talk is developed and the presentation slides themselves were guided by these premises. The theme used by Naiara was “sex”.

On the other hand, the concept is a bit more abstract idea and you can even use several around a website. They can be images, music, a feeling, ideas, quotes, colors, etc. Logically, during the class these elements of all good design will be described much better.

During the talk, information was offered that will allow us to select all the elements that we are going to use on a website and that will allow us to encompass the atmosphere of the design. But as we will see, it is not just about selecting these elements and putting them all together in the project, but using them in a way that they combine with each other and allow us to obtain a result that communicates and impacts the visitors, that works with each other. and that they do not clash.

The quote used to title this class “Practice Safe Design, Use a Concept” (which in itself is the concept of the talk itself) indicates that if we use the concepts and they are well used, we will be working on a “safe” design in which we will be sure of obtaining a good result.

During the class we will see with examples a series of concepts used on the web to make good designs. This will help us to gain a foothold within the universe of millions and millions of websites on the Internet. The idea is to look for an added value, which is based on getting the “crush” and if everything goes well getting the user the feeling of “I want more”. In this sense, during the class, everything that designers can do to ensure that visitors access a website and leave them with the feeling of wanting to enjoy the site, navigate it in depth and use it day after day, in other words, give the user the feeling of having hooked on the website.

But how to make our website successful and stand out from the rest? It doesn’t matter if it deals with constructions, products for aesthetics, shoes or electronics, all topics have the potential to engage the public and make them feel the need to consult the site and come back later.

This talk dealt with all these ideas, which we are totally sure you will like and enjoy listening to. But above all, you will get a lot of useful information and inspiration to face the design, theme and aesthetic conception of a website.
