We are working on the manual migration from Joomla to WordPress, well, it is not really a migration, we are doing it like new, from scratch, now in a directory in the same hosting account as where the current Joomla website is, and it will be has given us a question:
Same domain, same hosting account, new website, new CMS.
At the end of the new Web, the URLs, 80% of the URLs will have to be redirected by means of a 301, but does this mean that we must leave the current Web (Joomla) active for the redirects to work?
Is it so?
Normally when we do 301 redirects it is because a page or post has changed and it is redirected to the same website, but in this case, we want to confirm if it works the same.
What we plan to do is once the new WordPress website is finished and verified that all the URLs are redirected correctly, delete Joomla and its database completely and put the new website in its place.
