YouTube announces 5 new features for live streaming

YouTube has announced that it is working on introducing new features to improve the experience of both content creators and users when it comes to live streaming.

Live shows have become a very popular and almost mandatory function on the main entertainment platforms. They have become the favorite way for users to connect with content creators, which is why YouTube is working to introduce up to 5 new live improvements on its platform.

Some of these features are just a test run, while others are almost ready to be officially released in the coming months. For example, the first of these functions is Go Live Together, which consists of a collaborative transmission for smartphones.

In this case it is a pilot test, but creators will be able to send a link to invite people to go live with them. The guest’s information will remain hidden during the live and while the host will be able to see the analysis of the transmission, the guest will not. Finally, in the direct ones there will be advertising, but the benefits of it will only be for the creator.

The second of the novelties will be the Live Rings. This tool is used to notify users that a profile is in a live broadcast, and consists of a ring around the channel’s profile photo that just by pressing it takes you live. We can currently see these rings on certain screens, although it is expected to reach all of YouTube by the end of this year.

The following tool is intended for creators with more than 1,000 subscribers. The Cross Channel Live Redirects feature will allow you to direct your viewers to a live broadcast or premiere on a different channel. The channel being redirected to can choose which channels can use this feature with them or allow all channels to be redirected to them.

Next, we find the Split Screen display for smartphones during a live show. This tool offers two possibilities, the first is Lean in, which consists of placing the chat panel on the right of the screen, replacing the classic chat overlay.

On the other hand, there is the Lean back experience, which allows you to view the video in full screen and in the lower right corner the number of people connected live appears, if we click on the icon it will take us back to Lean in mode. If we decide to stay in Lean Back, at the end we will find a summary with the most outstanding comments, these functions are expected to be active by next week.

The last of the novelties is the live Questions and Answers. It is expected to be extended in the coming months and its operation is quite simple, the user asks a question and the live host answers it, the answers stay fixed for a while.

All these novelties have been explained through this YouTube video from Creator Inside.
