The Secretary of Organization of the PSOE and acting Minister of Public Works, José Luis Ábalos, affirmed this Tuesday that unemployment has also increased in October because there is more confidence in finding a job, which makes people sign up for the registers of the unemployment. “The population seeking employment is growing due to expectations in the labor market,” he pointed out.
In some statements to Antena 3 collected by Europa Press, the socialist has defended that the unemployment and affiliation figures for October “are not alarmist figures” and are more favorable than some expected.
“They are more positive than many could expect and who believed that the worse the country is, the better for them,” he said on the same day that Social Security released the figures for October.
The affiliation data
For Ábalos, the most important data is that of affiliation to Social Security. “These are better figures than a year ago and those of a year ago were better than the previous one,” she assured.
According to the Ministry of Labor, Migration and Social Security, its worst record this month in seven years, while Social Security affiliation achieved its second best October after 2018, gaining 106,541 employed.
