Amancio Ortega’s plans for Inditex in 2022: from the closing of stores to the largest Zara in the world

If a few days ago it was known that three of the main Inditex brands were beginning to open (Massimo Dutti, Oysho and Stradivarius), details of the plans that Amancio Ortega and his group are preparing for two other firms.

A “world reference for the concepts of sustainability and integration between the physical store and the online world”, as the company has pointed out, which aims to further boost Inditex’s annual profits.

A macro complex of 9,000 square meters on the ground floor of the Riu hotel that will occupy four floors with the main Zara products, but also other brands such as Zara Home or Stradivarius.

Betting on the latest technology, the new store will have a Pay&Go area, through which you can buy a product directly by scanning it on your mobile, as well as features such as reserving a changing room or locating items in the store itself.

Inditex ‘fires’ Uterqüe

On the other hand, another of Amancio Ortega’s great plans for this 2022 involves the definitive closure of all Uterqüe stores. This has been communicated by the group in recent months and it is expected that around the month of March the plan will begin, which will end with 80 stores around the world (28 in Spain).

However, this does not mean the definitive goodbye to Uterqüe, given that the firm will continue to exist in the Inditex world but already integrated into the Massimo Dutti collection. That is to say, it will reinforce this other firm, in constant expansion throughout the globe where it is already found in more than 70 markets.
