BBVA tightens account requirements to avoid commissions

tightens for the second time in six months the conditions for its clients to benefit from not paying commissions. The group has begun to communicate to users its new policy for current accounts, which will come into force as of June 15, and which will charge a commission of up to 160 euros per year to those who have less relationship with the bank.

The entity justifies this strategy in “the economic situation after the health crisis, as well as the evolution of the financial markets”.

In the first place, the bank has changed the name of the accounts and the one that was within the Goodbye Commissions program will be called the Election Account. Starting in June, the group will stop charging users who do not meet conditions a maintenance fee, but notes that it is eliminating the administration fee.

The maintenance commission will have a quarterly settlement, on March 15, June 15, September 15 and December 15 and will be 15 euros (60 euros per year) for users with an average link and 40 euros (160 euros per year) for those who do not meet any of the conditions.

Specifically, in order for the client to be able to benefit from the zero commissions, they must have a salary or income of more than 800 euros per month, or a pension or unemployment benefit, of more than 300 euros. In addition, you must have five receipt charges linked to the account in four months or make seven credit card purchases in four months. Finally, you will also have to have a product with the bank, either a loan, a mortgage, insurance, funds or plans with a balance of more than 5,000 euros or have an active credit card and spend at least 200 euros in four months.
