Carsharing arrives in Valencia: CarGreen launches 100 electric cars

The phenomenon of cars for shared use in large urban areas finally lands in Valencia. CarGreen, a company founded by the Valencian Alejandro Villamuera, has already launched 100 electric vehicles and its app that will allow them to be used.

With a delay on the expected deadlines due to the effects of the pandemic, the electric car rental service by the minute offered by CarGreen is already operational. There are already 100 Mercedes Smart electric cars circulating under the carsharing modality through the streets of the capital.

According to the company’s calculations, this type of vehicle can be used by up to 15 people during the day. Currently, there are 4 carsharing operators working in Spain, three of them in Madrid and belonging to multinationals.

The company created by Alejandro Villanueva has Borealis Corporate Finance who have advised the company throughout the operation and who will accompany them throughout their development and future growth.

With regard to financing, CaixaBank backs the project with nearly 90% of capital and the rest has been contributed by the partners themselves. The vehicles have been acquired under the operating leasing modality by the financial institution. The services start with 100 cars and, within 3 months, they hope to reach 500 and extend to other municipalities in the metropolitan area.

Functioning

The service, which will cost the user 33 cents per minute plus a fixed amount for registration. The registration will be practically automatic: after registering, in a maximum of 10 minutes the user will be validated and will be able to rent the vehicle.

The company has already launched the app through which the services are managed, which is available in both the App Store and Google Play, and almost 600 people are already registered.

The vehicles will have a geolocation system for control and will be able to park for free both in the blue zone and in the zone reserved for residents. In addition, the company has reached an agreement with the EMT so that vehicles can take advantage of their charging points.

GreenCar has had Borealis Corporate Finance as advisors throughout the operation, which will accompany it throughout its development and future growth.
