So are the new emoji for your iPhone: from sensual gestures to pregnant men

The next version of iOS, the operating system of the iPhone, will bring new emoji; among the more conventional additions, such as new types of faces, there are other very striking ones.

The Unicode Consortium is the organization that is in charge of adding new emoji to the list, something that it does every year since they became very popular to express ourselves in chats without having to write what we feel. However, this organization only defines the emotions or objects that the emoji should represent; it is the manufacturers and developers who have to decide how to represent them. It is the reason why the emoji are different on each mobile, even though they mean the same thing.

With the upcoming iOS 15.4, Apple will implement the 838 new emoji that the Unicode Consortium announced last year, and thanks to , we can already see how it has adapted some of them in Apple’s signature style. Among the new emoji we find some very basic ones, such as the “:-\” face, a face that covers its mouth or one that covers its eyes; We also have new hand gestures, such as one that forms a heart or one that points the reader with the finger. We also find objects such as car wheels, x-rays and corals.

But without a doubt, the most curious are those with a more sensual look. For example, we predict that the new bitten lips emoji will be very popular in some risqué chat rooms.

With the new generation of emoji, there has also been an attempt to have fewer emoji exclusive to one gender. Most manufacturers already offer three different versions of emoji: “Male”, “Female”, and simply “Person”, the latter without an established gender. For this reason, among the new emojis we find two that follow this trend of adapting all emotions to all types of people.

In other words, that explains why among the new emoji there is one of “Pregnant man”, as well as one of “Pregnant person”. Apple’s version of “Pregnant Man” shows the man from the front holding his tummy; although other manufacturers may adapt that concept differently.

These new emoji will arrive with iOS 15.4, which could also bring new functionality to unlock the iPhone with the mask on. The release is expected “this spring.”
