There must be some reason why deleting it from the wordpress library still doesn’t delete it from the file manager.
By manually deleting you delete the file but in the database the reference to that image is still there and that’s why you see a blank thumbnail or file name in the media gallery.
permanently delete them when I delete them from the library.
To remove the images from the gallery you can use the “Not attached” option and click on “Batch selection”
Select the images you want to delete and click on “delete permanently”
