From strong adversity, Sunday Montano He turned his professional life around and embarked on his own project: , an exclusive eCommerce for lovers of this sport. After many years of work and perseverance, this young man from Murcia (38) Sewer is the Manager and Owner of one of the leading companies in the sale of sports equipment for paddle tennis in Spain.

10 years ago Pádel Ibérico was born: How do you remember that time? Why did you decide to create it?

Well, it was a time of change in my life, since I am an industrial engineer and due to the brick crisis that occurred in Spain and that affected the company where I worked, I lost my job.

Then, the propitious scenario was created to create , since I did not have a job and I am a very restless person mentally. I invested the severance pay that the company I was working for gave me to create my own company, since I liked padel and I knew it was a good market niche.

From your experience with Pádel Ibérico, what advice would you give to those who are thinking of launching their own eCommerce?

I think there are several things that are fundamental for a company to be created from scratch and to work. I would highlight perseverance, being self-taught, making mistakes, getting up stronger, a daily effort to improve a lot and be a good salesperson, both with suppliers and customers. I think that with those ingredients you can achieve almost anything.

Since then, paddle tennis has expanded a lot, becoming a fairly popular sport. Have you been noticing this evolution in your traffic, sales, etc.?

Clearly yes. In Spain, paddle tennis is already a mature and stable sport. Now it is growing a lot in Europe: in Italy it already accounts for 30% of the total sales of our business. We also receive orders from all over Europe.

What annual sales volume do you currently generate?

In 2021 we achieved a turnover of more than 3.5 million euros and this 2022 we are experiencing a growth of 30% compared to the months of last year.

How are the customers of your online store? What kind of products are the best sellers?

Our clients are of all ages, since to start padel you just have to feel like it. It is a very simple sport to start with. As far as sales are concerned, the star product is the paddle tennis racket.

What do you think attracts them to your store? Why do they choose you over other competitors?

Being very honest in electronic commerce, today organic positioning has a great weight, since if you are well positioned, you have a good catalog and good prices, you ensure sales. Although it is true that the brand image of ham is so much ours that all our customers love it and that is why we make a difference compared to our competitors.

In this sense, how do you compete with the giants of online sales?

Our company is one of the benchmarks in the sector, but to compete with giants, the only secret there is is a job well done every day to be in the top positions of Google.

Do you have a presence in marketplaces? If not, have you thought about entering any of them?

A few years ago we started working with Amazon and stopped doing so throughout 2021. In 2022 we resumed relations with them due to Amazon’s insistence on working with them.

What is your goal for this year?

Our goal is to continue growing as we have done every previous year. The ideal would be to grow 100%, but I don’t like to set specific goals for myself, what I try to do is improve day by day and so far that has worked well for us.

He wouldn’t give me any advice, since I’ve done things right and some wrong, but that’s part of the learning necessary to become a good entrepreneur.
