In the fifth class of the e-commerce monitoring course, we are going to see how to choose and configure a plugin to send the e-commerce data to the Data Layer.
We are facing the scenario of an e-commerce made with a CMS like WooCommerce, or PrestaShop. that has “add-ons” that will allow us to add additional functionalities.
In the end, if you look closely, a plugin or module does, or should do, the same thing that we have seen before that we must sue a developer, with the advantage that it is something already packaged for use with a CMS. Let’s see it!
You have already seen, the first thing is to carry out research to find the supplements that best suit our needs and evaluate them before doing anything. Then, once the one that satisfies us the most has been chosen, install and configure it. Obviously each plugin or complement will have its casuistry, but in general it will be very similar in terms of concepts.
We have used for this class Google Tag Manager for WordPress, a very complete and free plugin that has more than six hundred thousand installations since at the moment it already supports sending data to the Data Layer in GA3 and GA4 format.
But it is not the only one, in the case of WordPress, for example, we have, among others, Google Tag Manager for WooCommerce Free or even PixelYourSite, the latter more generalist and which, at least at the time of creating this course, needed the paid version. to be able to track in GA4.
As homework for this class, evaluate the plugin or complement that best suits your needs, buy it if necessary and install and configure it to start with the e-commerce implementation that we will see in the next classes.
