EasyPark will buy E-Park: parking apps are consolidated

Consolidation between the applications (apps) to pay for regulated parking in cities. EasyPark, a company of Swedish origin, has reached an agreement to acquire E-Park, owned by the company Ingeniería Vial. The operation, which is pending the approval of the National Commission for Markets and Competition (CNMC), will allow EasyPark to extend its presence in Spain and strengthen itself as one of the applications with the most users.

From EasyPark they confirm to this newspaper that “we have submitted a request to the CNMC. However, we must respect the process and we cannot make any further comments until the authority has made a decision on the matter.”

EasyPark, born in 2008, already has more than seven million drivers in more than 1,300 cities in 14 countries in Europe and Australia. In Spain, it is present in 25 cities in Catalonia, Aragon, Galicia, Andalusia and Madrid, where it landed in 2018. The company entered the Spanish market with the purchase of the Park Smart Solutions firm, which had the mobile payment service for iParquing regulated car parks. In 2017, it launched Find & Park, a service that guides drivers to the areas with the most free parking spaces.

E-Park, for its part, provides services in Madrid and Boadilla del Monte (Community of Madrid), Santander (Cantabria), Santiago de Compostela and La Coruña (Galicia); Segovia (Castilla y León), Gerona (Catalonia), Orihuela (Valencian Community); Lorca (Murcia); Fields (Balearic Islands); Teruel (Aragon); and Granada, Córdoba, Marbella, Jerez and Almuñécar, in Andalusia. This company was the first in Europe, in 2017, that allowed its users to pay for parking through their mobile phone bill.
