Fernando Roig pays 120 million for 50% of Argenta and Cifre

Fernando Roig, president and owner of the Villarreal Football Club and minority partner of Mercadona, chaired by his brother Juan, is not satisfied with having created the largest ceramic producer in Europe with Pamesa and continues to take positions in the Castellón ceramic industry.

An ambition in which the Valencian businessman has come to pay 119.74 million euros to take over 50% of the ceramic group formed by Argenta and Cifre, in an operation that materialized last year.

Roig will have to face this investment by 2026, according to the latest accounts of his company Nomar Patrimonial, in which he brings together his business holdings and where the amount of an agreement that revolutionized the ceramic sector in Castellón last year has been revealed. past.

The agreement set the value of 50% of the tile manufacturer Argenta at 80 million euros, with the payment of 8 million last year at the time of purchase. The rest will be completed by paying 12 million euros each year until 2026.

In addition, Roig’s estate disbursed 50.24 million euros to subscribe to a capital increase for 50% of Cifre Cerámica, the retailer that had the same partners as Argenta. To close the operation, Roig transferred 6.4% of Argenta to Cifre, which thus reaches 12.8%, which reduced the amount of the transaction by 10.24 million.

In this way, the president of Pamesa maintains 50% of both, as do the other partners who continue in the group, the brothers José and Enrique Cifre. Roig’s entry into the capital meant the departure of the other partner of Argenta and Cifre, the Usó family.
