Ferrovial appoints Andrés Sacristán as the new CEO of Cintra

Change of relief in Ferrovial. The group’s Board of Directors has appointed Andrés Sacristán CEO of Cintra, the company’s highway division, who replaces Alejandro de la Joya, who held the position since November 2018 and who leaves the company. With this change, the firm seeks to strengthen its commitment to the United States, its main market in the world. Sacristán, in fact, will lead the division globally from the North American country.

Andrés Sacristán (Madrid, 1971) has spent most of his professional career at Cintra. In 2017 he made the leap to North America, being appointed CEO of the 407 ETR toll road in Toronto, one of Ferrovial’s main assets. Last year he was chosen to lead Cintra’s operation in the United States, a country considered to have the greatest potential and where the company develops projects in Texas, Virginia and North Carolina. Andrés Sacristán, who joined Cintra in 2001, is a Civil Engineer from the Polytechnic University of Madrid. He held various positions in the car park division, where he was Director of Development, later moving to Autopistas de Cintra, where he was Director of Operations for Eurolink and director of Radial 4. In 2010 he was appointed director of Spain and member of the Committee of Management of Cintra and in 2013 director of Europe, taking charge of the new markets of Australia and Colombia in 2015, before assuming responsibilities in North America.

“Andrés is an ideal professional to take charge of Cintra’s current moment, since his extensive and successful experience in the United States and Canada endorse him to lead the company in this stage of recovery of normality in mobility and considering that North America offers many opportunities for our investments”, said Ignacio Madridejos, CEO of Ferrovial.

Alejandro de la Joya (Madrid, 1967) was, before his appointment to run Cintra, CEO of Ferrovial Construcción. A Civil Engineer, he joined Ferrovial in 1991, having developed his professional career in Spain, Morocco, Italy, Portugal and Poland.

“I would like to highlight the contribution that Alejandro has made to Ferrovial throughout his 30-year career at the house, especially in the company’s internationalization process. I am sure, as we all wish him, that he will have the greatest success in the professional projects that he undertakes from now on”, commented Madridejos.
