Google celebrates Halloween with several dynamic doodles

This Friday, October 31, Google has joined the Halloween party and has dressed up for the occasion with several dynamic doodles that recreate some scenes from the most terrifying night of the year.

As is customary, the search engine has once again paid homage to the night of November 31 to 1 with a total of six images with motifs that refer to this festivity.

Pumpkins, zombies, ghosts, witches and scarecrows are the animated doodles used by Google that kick off one of the most terrifying and fun nights of the year and which is celebrated more and more regularly around the world.

This festival of Celtic origin, known as Samhain -end of summer-, was celebrated to start the Celtic New Year at the same time that the summer season and the harvesting of crops ended. The ancient Celts believed that on the night of October 31 the world of the dead crossed the line of the world of the living, for which they used disguises with which to go unnoticed and thus scare away evil spirits.

It was then that Irish immigrants brought the holiday to North America during the time of the Great Irish Famine. This is the main reason that explains the great reception of this festivity in Anglo-Saxon countries, such as the United States and Canada.

Despite its Anglo-Saxon expansion, in recent years other countries such as Spain have adopted this festivity to their calendar, which, in turn, is a perfect ally of the All Saints’ Day festival that is celebrated on November 1.
