How to collect the allowance for over 52 years after a part-time job

Workers who, close to retirement age, suffer certain ups and downs in their hiring and periods of significant duration without work can aspire to different coverage dependent on the Public State Employment Service, SEPE. One of the most outstanding benefits in these situations is the subsidy for people over 52 years of age.

This subsidy is one of the best known of all those managed by the SEPE and, although it presents more particularities than the rest, it can be collected in those situations in which the worker has only performed a part-time job, although he must comply with some other requirement to be able to receive the benefit.

If the worker reaches that age of at least 52 years, he needs a causal event to be able to collect the subsidy for people over 52 years of age. And doing a job, either part-time or full-time, without having generated the right to unemployment, is one of the cases that give the right to receive the subsidy. The SEPE explains that “being in a legal situation of unemployment and not having the right to contributory unemployment benefit, having contributed for unemployment, at least, between 90 and 359 days” is a causal event for which the subsidy can be received.

Thus, any person who does part-time work will be able to access the subsidy for people over 52 years of age because they would meet that requirement, which involves proving a causal event. In addition, you must meet other conditions to be able to collect the benefit. These conditions are regulated on the SEPE website:

The amount of the subsidy for people over 52 years of age

Of course, the fact of working part-time has no effect on the amount of the subsidy for people over 52 years of age. The amount will be the same as for workers who obtain it after a full-time contract: 80% of the IPREM (Public Indicator of Multiple Effects Income), which currently stands at 463.21 euros per month.

In addition, at the time of its collection, the citizen must be calm: if he meets the previously stated requirements at all times, he will be able to collect the subsidy indefinitely. Contrary to other subsidies, if the citizen does not find another job, he will be able to receive it until the moment he starts to collect the contributory retirement pension.
