How to enable automatic updating in web browsers πŸ₯‡

Learn to enable automatic web page refresh in web browsers like Chrome, Edge, and Firefox. We can configure the automatic update interval to reload the web page.

The auto-update feature for a browser might seem like a great idea. This was, in fact, an idea implemented in almost every browser we have today. However, the implementations happened a long time ago, and for some reason, browsers no longer support the built-in auto-refresh feature.

Although that is the case, you may be aware of the fact that certain tabs constantly reload inconsistently.

I have experienced this and it is nothing more than the browser clearing the data to make the device work smoothly. It’s actually something completely different compared to how we want auto-update for a specific time interval or so.

Most of us want these automatic update features for different purposes. In my case, I am very committed to eBay, so having an auto-refresh feature for a few seconds will definitely help me a lot during auctions there.

If you need browsers capable of updating automatically, I’ll sweat to help you work through some of my solutions to this problem.

Through this article, I will talk about some selected extensions that will help you auto-refresh browser tabs. Before we get started, please note that we will be using third-party plugins for the most popular browsers we currently have.

We have to rely on extensions from now on, as browsers no longer support built-in auto-update features. With that out of the way, we’ll jump right into the process of enabling auto-update for different web browsers.

Enable auto update in Google Chrome

To enable automatic updating in Google Chrome, I chose to go with the Tab Reloader extension. Unlike the others, Tab Reloader is a much safer and more reliable plugin for Chrome, with no malware or spyware.

Start by adding the extension Tab Reloader to Google Chrome.

On the page that opens, click the button Add to Chrome on the right

Then confirm by clicking the button add extension of the pop-up window.

Once the extension has been successfully added to your Chrome browser, click on its logo in the extensions menu at the top of your Chrome browser. This will display the extension’s configuration settings.

Then set your period recharge in the section Adjust recharge time .

Finally, activate the option enable recharger for this tab at the bottom for the extension to work.

This will activate the Tab Reloader extension for the current tab you are on. If you want to automatically update another tab, simply go to that tab and repeat steps 4-6.

Enable automatic updating in Microsoft Edge

For Microsoft Edge, I choose to go with the Refreshless plugin for automatic updating. Just like the extension for Chrome, the Refreshless extension is the ideal and non-fraudulent plugin for Edge.

Then activate the option auto update .

Set your time on Intervals section for automatic update.

Turn off or on option persistent according to your choice

Finally, click the button Apply for the extension to work according to your preferences.

Enabling the Persistent option literally uses the same extension settings for that particular tab. If you need the automatic update to work in another tab, you should go there, configure the extension settings and apply.

Enable automatic updating in Mozilla Firefox

The best option for Mozilla Firefox in case of an auto-updating extension is the same as for Google Chrome, the Tab Reloader extension. This is how you can get it in Mozilla Firefox:

add the Tab Reloader plugin in Mozilla Firefox.

Then click the button Add to Firefox

Click on Add in the popup that appears

Click on the extension icon Tab Reloader in the extensions menu to open the configuration settings.

Enter your preferred time slot in the section Adjust recharge time

turn off in the Reloader Activate this option tab at the top and now that things work.

That will now automatically refresh the tab you were on. If you want another tab to auto-refresh, you need to open that tab, enter the time interval and turn on the auto-refresh feature for that particular tab as shown above.

Conclusions about the automatic update of the web browser

That successfully covers everything you need to know about enabling auto-update in your web browser.

Although I use Google Chrome as my main browser, I tried all of the above browsers and their respective auto-updating plugins to compile this article.

Based on experience, I must admit that the extensions of my choice are quite convenient and are not a scam at all.

We spent quite a bit of time researching and experimenting with these plugins. The final result that was obtained was satisfactory and the three previous extensions conquered other 10 that I tried.

Chrome browser has recently started to reload the tab when we are inactive for a long time. This is quite annoying for most users including me who keep multiple tabs open. So, I did some research and found some options to disable auto reload after inactivity in Chrome.

Also, keep in mind that you will have to configure the extension’s settings if you want a newly opened tab to reflect the respective effects. In simpler words, extensions will only work for the tab they have been configured for.
