How to know if the SEPE has granted you unemployment or an unemployment benefit

Once the citizen who has lost his job requests the contributory benefit (unemployment) or an unemployment subsidy from the State Public Employment Service, he simply has to wait. The body has specific times to decide on the benefit in question, but in the meantime the citizen can check the status of his request or know before an official communication if he will be entitled to receive the aid.

, the SEPE explains that it is obliged to notify the resolutions to citizens at the addresses they provide but that, in the meantime, they can also consult the status of their resolution with complete freedom. To find out if they are going to collect the unemployment benefit they have requested, citizens have three options.

At the SEPE Electronic Headquarters

The first way is at the SEPE Electronic Office, which offers the ‘Consultations’ service within the ‘Unemployment benefits’ section. The citizen can access it, but provided they have a digital certificate (if they do not have it), Cl@ve (), electronic ID by sending a PIN to the mobile phone.

According to the SEPE, in this service you can not only check the status of the unemployment benefit, but also check the history of applications, the last benefit made, the available payroll receipts and the total number of denials.

The agency also explains that in this service the citizen can “consult the data of the company certificate that the company has sent, as well as obtain a copy of the company certificate, in which they have ceased their work activity.”

By phone

Another option is to check the status of the unemployment benefit over the phone. To do this, you must call the citizen service telephone number that corresponds to you in your province. The one in which all telephones are included, distributed by provinces.

Be that as it may, the citizen will call the office that corresponds to him and will be able to receive advice from a SEPE worker, who with the citizen’s personal data will be able to tell him the status of the application for unemployment benefit.

At SEPE offices

In order to go to a SEPE office to check the status of an unemployment benefit application, two conditions must be met: go to the office where the benefit was requested and request an appointment, an essential requirement to be able to be attended.

To make an appointment you have two options: electronically at the SEPE Electronic Office and without the need for a digital certificate or Cl@ve or by phone, by calling 91 273 83 84 for 24-hour service. For either case here is a no problem.
