Frequently Asked Questions about optimizing images in WordPress with OptimizerIO – FAQ’s

Do I have to register every time the plugin is installed?

The registration is done only once, you receive an email and confirm the link, and then in the plugin, once you install it, you validate the API KEY by putting your email (with which you have registered) in the validation field.

If for some reason you put the wrong email in the registration and you did not receive the email, do not worry, you can use another email to register.

If for example it was a Gmail email account you can register with user+1@gmail.com being +1 an Alias of the user@gmail.com email account that will allow you to register in Optimizador.io and you will also receive the registration email in your mailbox even if you use the alias.

Can I use the same validated email on several websites?

You can use the same email address to validate the API Key in as many WordPress as you manage, we do not impose restrictions in this regard.

How to optimize existing images on the web?

Once you install the plugin and validate it (Api KEY which is the email with which you have registered the plugin) you can go to the Media Library from the web to optimize the images and select the images by pages (pagination blocks) and click on “Batch Tasks”, Optimize selected images.

From that moment the selected images will become “Planning” until they enter the optimization queue on the server that is responsible for applying it.

It is not an immediate process and can take from minutes to hours depending on the optimization load that you have assigned in the queue, since thousands of users use the service daily.

When images are marked as “Planned” This is the process prior to the server that is in charge of optimizing them placing them in the process queue to progressively carry out the task.

As Optimizer.io processes the queue of files, these are optimized and you will gradually see how your images appear with the % of optimization applied.

The first time is a slower process because you will surely have many images, but once you optimize them, the new ones that you upload will be queued in the image optimizer so that it progressively optimizes them, being a transparent task in the background ( on the fly) that does not consume resources from your Hosting or affect the operation of your website.

What image formats does the plugin optimize?

The formats that optimizer.io improves are JPG Y PNG exclusively. Other formats such as TIFF (not recommended for web) or webp they are not optimized by the () tool.

It specifically focuses on the traditional image formats which are the ones commonly used in the Media Library or for WooCommerce Products and which are typically 70% of disk usage on WordPress installs.

optimizer.io does not reduce the size of an image in PDF or GIF format, nor MP3/MP4 or other video formats.

Do I have to select the images that are uploaded to optimize them?

Once you install it you have to add the images (this is done only the first time, then the images that you add to your website will be progressively optimized) from the Media Library.

Can I revert to the previous version of an optimized image?

If it is possible and you can do it from your Media Library, navigate through the pages of it and with the list view (not grid) locate the image that you want to restore to its previous state and you will see a link called See backup of the original image.

Click that link and your image will open in a new tab. This image will be the version before the optimization, which you can download to your computer and upload again to the Media Library, keeping in mind that optimizer.io will be able to optimize it again if it detects it as not optimized again.

This option is only available if in the plugin configuration you activated the checkbox called Backup original images on the Options tab.

If I optimize the images with ImgOptimizer, do I have to re-optimize them with Optimizer.io?

It is not necessary since the images previously optimized, at some previous time, with ImgOptmizer (Client Area) are marked so that they are not processed again in each subsequent task of improving them.

Optimizer.io will detect that they have already been optimized and will not modify them and in your Media Library, in the list view, you will see that in the column optimization the note appears Optimized with IMGOptimizer.
