Since the omicron variant fully entered Spain, the daily positive cases of coronavirus have only grown. A fact that has caused the sick leave to be constant for this reason, due to the mandatory isolation and the symptoms in many cases that prevent the development of an activity, which has caused the autonomous communities to modify their systems to grant or not that break while being feasible to infect.
Can I request a leave due to covid infection? The question that many Spaniards have asked themselves in recent days has a positive statement, despite the fear of a large part of them of having to face a complicated work situation due to an illness that lasts, in many days, no more than five days.
This is also why the Public Health Commission, made up of the directors of the Health Departments of each autonomy, decided to lower the mandatory isolation from ten to seven days. A period that begins when the symptoms or the positive are detected and that varies, to request a leave according to each territory.
Of course, with the reference of the week as long as the symptoms disappear and the person can be in a sanitary condition to return to their position, this leaves a large part of the medical discharges in the hands of each worker. And it is that he must be the one who communicates whether or not he continues with symptoms, out of mere responsibility towards the rest, since it is understood that after five days the possibility of infecting is greatly reduced and after a week it is minimal (the peak is between the two days before the onset of symptoms and the three after).
Andalusia
Through the Salud Responde app or through the Junta’s web portal, any citizen can process a sick leave simply by presenting a positive test, even carried out at home. From then on, seven days will be counted, which, once they have passed, will automatically discharge them unless the citizen reports the permanence of the symptoms.
Aragon
The same procedure occurs in Aragon, where either by telephone or through the regional portal you can request a leave from work including a positive test that can be done at home. Automatically, those responsible will contact the patient from what will be counted the week of isolation and, therefore, sick leave.
Asturias
Without automatisms, the Principality goes on to contact those people who result positive in a test to process their discharge. If you do not have symptoms or that they disappear in the last three days before reaching the week, you must communicate to obtain medical discharge. Otherwise, the authorities send a diagnostic test to analyze the situation.
Balearics
Neither with an automated system yet, positive cases must enter the Government’s self-tracking website where they will be assigned a day, time and center for another test. In case of testing positive again, the data is passed to the Covid Coordination Center where the sick leave is processed. In order to be discharged, the personnel in charge of these tasks will contact the person again after a few days and if they meet certain requirements, they will be able to return to their activity.
Canary Islands
Unless there is seriousness in the patient, the Canary Islands process to process a sick leave due to covid is automated once the hotline is called for it and the positive result is communicated. In the event of a week without symptoms, the discharge will also be automatic.
Cantabria
A similar case to that which occurs in the Cantabrian system where, except in exceptional cases, both the discharge and the discharge are processed automatically. For this, a positive person can contact the service dedicated to it, from where the corresponding procedures will be carried out.
Castilla la Mancha
Having to contact the health personnel of the community, they will proceed to carry out a test that, if it is positive, will issue the discharge. Discharge is automatic after seven days unless you have symptoms, so you will have to contact the Health Service again.
Castile and Leon
Even without an automatic process, both the discharge and the discharge go through separate processes for the Castilian-Leonese. Catalonia

The process is also automated, in Galicia you can even present a test carried out at home to process a sick leave. After seven days, and if there are no symptoms, discharge will be automatic.
The Rioja
Simultaneously, so it is not necessary to go through two processes to get discharged and discharged, this comes after presenting a positive in any test and after seven days from this if you do not have symptoms.
Madrid’s community
The last to automate the discharge process, the positive can be detailed after contacting the Patient Care Center by phone. For this, a test carried out at home can be argued and discharge will be granted after the week.
Region of Murcia

Navarre
