Still don’t use Doppler within your email marketing strategy?

Today I am going to explain how to use it within your strategy, as it is one of the most used email marketing tools in Spanish in the Spanish-speaking world.

This company has offices in Spain, as well as in Argentina, Mexico, Ecuador, Colombia and the United States, which often makes the treatment much closer.

That said, we are going to get to know the free “Doppler” platform in depth, to get the most out of it.

What is Doppler?

It is a platform that not only serves to send traditional Campaigns, but also to create really effective automated flows.

One of the characteristics that most identifies Doppler is how intuitive it is and how easy it is to use. In fact, it is designed for those who need to send Campaigns, but do not have design or programming knowledge.

Before going into the step by step to get to know this platform in depth, we would also like to tell you that the tool has a support team for 12 hours a day, which responds to queries immediately, both through Email and by email. telephone.

So, if you have any questions when using it, you know, you are not alone, there is a whole team of experts ready to help you right away.

What payment plans does Doppler have?

Doppler offers free accounts for those who have 500 Subscribers or less.

If this is your case, you will be able to make unlimited shipments to that Database and access all the functionalities.

It is a very good opportunity for those who are just starting out with a project.

A good fact to keep in mind is that all automations are also available with any type of account, even the free one.

If your business is already a bit larger and your Contact Lists exceed that number, you have both monthly and prepaid plans. This choice will depend, above all, on the number of shipments you make.

If you know that you will make at least one monthly shipment, it will be convenient for you to pay monthly for a certain number of Subscribers.

If you still do not have a very consolidated one or, due to the characteristics of your business model, you do not have a certain frequency, it may be better for you to buy credits without expiration (Prepaid Plan).

If you have a Marketing Agency or a large company that manages several email accounts, the solution that Doppler has for you is .

It is a service that is used to manage different accounts from a single dashboard. In addition, it allows granting different accesses. For example, you can give access so that one person can only view Reports, another can edit Campaigns, and a third can manage Lists.

In this case, you pay monthly for a certain amount of credits and they are used at your discretion, between the different accounts.

How to create a free account on Doppler?

The first step to start using the platform will be to create a free account.

Even if you know that you are going to want to buy a Plan, you must first have the Free Account created.

To do so, log in to Doppler and click Sign Up Free.

Once you complete the data (you will see that there are very few), an email will be sent to your mailbox to validate the account.

You will need to click on the Activate your Account button and you will be redirected to the application. There, you must enter with your username (Email) and password.

As you will see, the first interface that you will find will contain two video tutorials so that you can start using the most basic functionalities: Create Lists and Send a Campaign.

How to create your first campaign with Doppler?

The first time you create a campaign, you will be able to click directly on Create a Campaign, on the screen shown above.

From the second shipment, these guides will no longer appear and, therefore, you will have to access the campaigns option from the main menu.

Once there, you must click on Create Campaign.

In addition to automations, in Doppler you have three types of Campaigns to choose from, depending on your goals:

  • Classic Campaign: they are the most traditional mailings. It is used, in general, for personal messages, which you have no interest in making viral.
  • Social Campaign: this option allows you to include social buttons in your mailings so that your Subscribers can share and like your content. On the other hand, you can also self-publish them on your own profiles.
  • A/B Test Campaign: with this alternative you can carry out tests to discover the elements that work best in your pieces. How does it work? You send a test to 5 or 10% of your Contact List and, automatically, the tool will send the rest of the Subscribers the Subject that has generated the most openings.

Configuration of a Campaign in Doppler

1- Basic Information: in this instance, you will choose the name of the Campaign, the Subject, the Pre-header, the Sender’s Email, their name, the Response Email, you will decide if you want a Campaign in HTML or Text Only and, if it is social, you will define which networks you will include and which functionalities (share and/or like).

2- Content: if you have chosen a Text Only Campaign, it is time to use the WYSIWYG Editor. Here there is not much to add since it is a word processor, as if it were Microsoft Word. If instead you have decided on an HTML layout, you can import a file or use the Template Editor.

Here we have a very good news to give you. Using the editor is very, very simple. It is a Drag and Drop, in which you only have to drag and drop the elements to customize the pieces with texts, images, videos, your logo and many other aspects.

All the pieces are Responsive by default and you can preview them in Desktop and Mobile format.

3- Choice of recipients: it is time to choose the Subscribers who will receive your Campaign. You can choose a List, a Segment or both.

4- Sending schedule: you can send your Campaign immediately or schedule it for later. You can also leave automatic forwarding configured to those who have not opened the Email and those who have experienced Soft Bounces.

How to create segments in Doppler?

This is probably one of the most relevant sections, taking into account the importance of good segmentation for any Email Marketing strategy.

To create a Doppler Segment, you will need to go to the Lists tab and then to the Segments section.

Then, you must click on the Create Segment button and you will see that you have three options to create them:

  • From Subscribers: This type of targeting is based on Custom Fields; that is, in the data that you have associated with each Subscriber for information that you have requested in your Form. For example, gender, place of residence or interest.
  • From Reports: this alternative allows you to base yourself on the results of previous Campaigns. For example, create a segment for those who did not open your last Campaigns or another for those who clicked on them.
  • From Link Labels: Doppler allows you to assign labels to the different links that you include in your Campaigns and segment based on that.

For example, if your piece has two different links, you can make everyone who clicks on the first link be segmented as “Interested in Product x”.

This is very useful to later send content that is really of interest and value to Subscribers.

In addition to these options, you can also add and subtract Lists and Segments.

You will use this if you want to send a Campaign to a certain List, excluding a Segment, for example.

How to create Forms in Doppler?

One of the biggest doubts that those who start with it have is how to grow their Databases.

The answer is, through Forms.

Although there are multiple strategies, you will always need Forms for those interested to subscribe.

The creation of Forms to later integrate them into Blogs or Websites, in Doppler can be done in two ways.

One is by entering the Lists section and choosing the one you want to feed with the Form. The other is by accessing that same section, but then go to the Forms sub-menu.

You have several instances to customize them, change formats, sizes, colors, fonts, and add Custom Fields, among other options.

You can create them simple opt-in or double opt-in and also customize the Confirmation Email and the Landing Page.

Once you finish with this, you will access an iframe code, to insert the Form in your Web or Blog.

You can also integrate it as a tab on Facebook and take the opportunity to convert all your followers into Subscribers of your Campaigns.

Another option that Doppler offers you is to access a URL to be able to share it with whoever you want so that they can complete your Form. This option is useful, above all, for those who do not yet have a Site or Blog.

If you are a WordPress user, Doppler provides you with a way to integrate your Form there.

How to access the “Report Summary” in Doppler?

To analyze the performance of your shipments, you must go to the Reports section and, once there, you must choose the Campaign you want to evaluate.

On the first screen you will see a summary of metrics, with the most important ones.

Then, from the dropdown on the right, you can analyze each aspect in more detail.

In case you would like to download these Reports, you can do so in different formats.

Doppler Automation: automation flows to build loyalty and sell

One of the great advantages of Doppler is that you can access all the automations, without additional charges.

For that, you must go to the Automation section, in the Main Menu and click on Create Automation Campaign.

You will see the four types of Email Automation Campaigns that you can create.

  • Scheduled Dates: Send Campaigns automatically on a specific date, such as your Subscribers’ birthday or an invoice due
  • List Subscription: schedule a series of automatic mailings to welcome your new Subscribers.
  • RSS sending: choose the frequency and send the updates of the latest posts from your Blog or news site to all your Subscribers.
  • Campaign Behavior: discover how your Subscribers interact with your Campaigns and send them Emails according to their interests.

An important point is that you can not only trigger Emails when certain criteria are met, but you can also use other elements, such as waiting a certain time before sending a new email, setting a condition to proceed to the next action (if the Subscriber opened or not a Campaign, if they clicked on a certain link, etc.) or assign other actions, such as associating the subscriber to a certain List based on their behavior.

In this way you can create simple or very complex flows, depending on the type of business and the objectives you have.
