Ikea is looking for workers: how are their conditions, salaries and selection processes

Ikea is one of those brands that with just its name everyone can identify its sector and what to expect from it. The Swedish furniture giant has been gradually growing in Spain, opening its stores in more and more provincial capitals, and now also exploring its smaller city store models, where its customers can find some of its most demanded items.

The training requirements also move within the range of these profiles, ranging from employment options without specific training to others that require some vocational training in design and interior design or university training for those who require it.

Although the wide range of vacancies makes salaries different, for sales positions and other store operatives Ikea adheres to the collective agreement for department stores, which sets a minimum annual salary of 14,299 euros, about 1,190 euros per month.

In addition, workers have premiums and bonuses from the few months of their employment that also make the floor rise over time.

Ikea divides its selection process into several phases, which end up culminating in the interview. There they can ask you different things depending on the position, but from Ikea they say that “in general, behavioral questions are usually asked about how you think you would act in certain situations. Therefore, think of previous occasions in which you have had to use skills such as decision making, teamwork, problem solving or communication”.
