Artificial intelligence (AI)-based discovery and analytics tool HypeAuditor has released a new that makes a comparison between the content shared on Instagram by , which include images, carousels, reels and videos. The results show the most used content on Instagram, as well as its reach, likes and comments that each type of content has gathered.

To achieve reliable results, the tool has analyzed 77.6 million posts made by 13.6 million top content creators globally on during the month of July 2022.

Images and carousels are the most used content on Instagram

During the month of July the 42.2% of influencers who use Instagram daily posted imagesso they became the most popular content on the platform and with a huge advantage.

Carousels were the second most popular content on Instagram, with 26.2% of posts. The gap between both contents is 16 points, a quite important difference.

For its part, the reels were in third place, with 22.1% use by influencers and videos are in last place, with only 9.6% use.

Estimated Range Distribution

Despite the popularity of images as content, Instagram has focused on prioritizing reels, seeking to mimic its fiercest competitor. , and this effort seems to have borne fruit.

And it is that Reels have become the content created by influencers with the greatest impact on the platform, with an estimated reach of 33.8%.

The images were not far from the reels and also had a great impact within the platform, accumulating a reach of 29.9%, although it is noticeable that it has lost a bit of impact. The carousels occupy the third place of reach with 22.4% and lastly, there are the videos, with a reach of 13.9%.

As far as “likes” are concerned, we see again that reels occupy the first place, gathering 35.4%. The second place is for the images, with a fairly marked gap, which have accumulated 24.6% of the platform’s likes.

Once again, carousels and videos occupy the third and fourth places respectively, accumulating 24.2% and 15.6% of the platform’s likes.

As for the comments that each content has accumulated, the images lead the way with 30% of the comments on the platform. They are followed by reels (28%). The third place is for the carousels (24.9%) and finally there are the videos (17%).
