In the case of virtuemart 1.19, the file you need to modify is:
/components/com_virtuemart/themes/TU_THEME/templates/pages/shop.ask.tpl
You must replace TU_THEME with the theme you use (usually it will be default), you verify this from the backend of virtuemart , administration => configuration => tab site => Layout => Select a theme for your store
Then in this file you can perform the inclusion of the field in a similar way as indicated in the previous discussion thread.
There is no other simpler way to do what you require, it is recommended that you have programming knowledge to make this type of modification.
