Madrid advances the curfew at 10:00 p.m. and the closure of the hotel business at 9:00 p.m.

The Community of Madrid prohibits meetings of people who are not cohabiting in the houses from Monday and advances the curfew from 11:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. In addition, as a measure to stop the spread of the coronavirus, the hotel industry will have to close at 9:00 p.m. and only groups of a maximum of four people per table can meet in these establishments. The Ministry of Health has also made a call to promote teleworking in those companies that can organize themselves with their employees.

This was announced this Friday at a press conference by the Minister of Health, Enrique Ruiz Escudero, accompanied by the Deputy Minister of Public Health and the covid-19 Plan, Antonio Zapatero; and the general director of Public Health, Elena Andradas. “We are in a new scenario that forces us to change the rules of the game,” remarked the head of Health.

Regarding the previous measures, in hotels and restaurants the number that can be grouped at each table is reduced from six to four people, both indoors and outdoors. In addition, the bar service is suspended. Only pharmacies, medical establishments, veterinarians, gas stations and those that provide essential and urgent services can open at night.

The capacity space in leisure centers in shopping centers will be 50%. For its part, the capacity will be 75% in theatres, cinemas and other cultural facilities, 40% in the multipurpose rooms (such as the Wizink Center), the outdoor terraces that remain at 75%, and the non-regulated training, also at 75%.

Hospitality Madrid has estimated that the reduction from six to four diners in bars and restaurants in the region according to the latest standards approved by the Community of Madrid would mean daily losses of 7.2 million euros and 40% less activity.

In addition, the Community of Madrid will increase from Monday in 56 basic health zones (ZBS) and 25 localities in the region the areas with restrictions due to the advance of the coronavirus in the region. Ruiz Escudero explained that 24% of Madrid residents will thus become restricted in these areas, which account for 30% of the cases. Neighbors who live in these ZBS over 16 years of age will receive an SMS to notify them of these restrictions.

The Director General of Public Health explained that due to the increase in coronavirus cases in different parts of the region and once the 14-day incidence of 750 cases per 100,000 inhabitants has been exceeded, the criteria for setting these restrictions are: having an incidence of more than 1,000 cases, that there is community transmission and a significant increasing trend.

Thus, from 00:00 on Monday, January 25 and until 00:00 on Monday, February 8, entry and exit will be prohibited except for a justified reason, such as going to work, in the areas of La Ribota, Ramón y Cajal, Doctor Laín Entralgo and Doctor Trueta, in Alcorcón; and Las Ciudades, in Getafe.

In addition, the restrictions are extended to the entire perimeter of the municipality of Collado-Villalba and the entire perimeter of Rivas-Vaciamadrid with the addition of four other basic zones. Likewise, there will be mobility restrictions in the towns of Cercedilla, Navacerrada, Los Molinos, Colmenar de Oreja, Quijorna and Serranillos del Valle.

On the other hand, until 00:00 on Monday, February 1 in the entire Barajas district in Madrid, with the Barajas and Alameda de Osuna areas.

Also in the capital Madrid, the limitations are maintained until that day in the areas of Andrés Mellado (Chamberí), Aravaca (Moncloa-Aravaca), General Moscardó (Tetuán); Sanchinarro, Virgen del Cortijo, Benita de Ávila and Silvano (Hortaleza); Mirasierra and Las Tablas (Fuencarral-El Pardo); Jasmine (Linear City); Montesa, General Oráa and Baviera (Salamanca), and Alpes and Rejas (San Blas-Canillejas).

Likewise, the entire municipal area of ​​Alcobendas, San Sebastián de los Reyes and Fuenlabrada will continue to be perimetered, while the municipality of Móstoles continues with restrictions in the areas of Felipe II, Mayor Bartolomé González, Presentation Sabio, Dos de Mayo, El Soto and Coimbra Park.

In Getafe, the restrictions in Getafe Norte are maintained; in Aranjuez, those of Las Olivas and Aranjuez; in San Fernando de Henares the areas of San Fernando and Los Alperchines; in Las Rozas, the area of ​​Las Matas; and in the Torrelodones area, which includes the municipalities of Torrelodones and Hoyo de Manzanares.

The entry and exit limitations are also maintained for seven more days in the following towns that do not coincide with a basic health zone: Fuente el Saz, San Agustín de Guadalix, El Molar, Pedrezuela, La Cabrera, Arroyomolinos, Talamanca del Jarama, Valdeolmos -Alapardo, Collado Mediano, Becerril de la Sierra, Gallows of the Glass, Campo Real, Titulcia, Velilla de San Antonio, Ciempozuelos, Navalcarnero, Algete, Mejorada del Campo and Villarejo de Salvanés.

Single command and the British strain

The head of Health has announced that the Ministry of Health has prepared the activation of the single health command in the region with the agreement of the private clinics to organize all the resources of all the public and private hospitals in the region as a single network.

Likewise, after referring to the new British variant of Covid-19, he stated that “once again the virus has entered through the Barajas airport and we are once again paying the consequences”.

“That is why we demand the central government to intensify air controls and other means of transport,” he said. “The Ministry of Health does not give importance to the British strain, we do, and a lot,” she added.

In this regard, he explained that the Community is analyzing the degree of transmissibility in the region, “which is increasing”, with a percentage of this strain of 9% of all cases, an “underestimated” figure, while verifying “a clear upward trend of this new variant, doubling its incidence every week, and during the last three weeks.”
