Mercadona coffee at 0.85 euros that threatens Starbucks

One of the novelties in the Mercadona catalog is ready to shake up the take-away coffee market. This is the coffee drink with oatmeal in individual packs for a modest price of 0.85 euros per unit.

Marketed by Hacendado, Mercadona’s private label, this oatmeal and coffee drink is vegan, pasteurized, and is sold in 250-milliliter glasses. It is a refrigerated product, and as such, it must be kept in the fridge at a temperature between zero and five degrees Celsius.

The liter costs 3.40 euros, a price similar to that of a single coffee of this type in chains such as Starbucks, the sector in which Juan Roig’s company intends to acquire market share.

The product in question can now be purchased both in physical stores and in the supermarket’s online catalogue, and with that price of 85 cents it is a much cheaper alternative to take away compared to other options such as Starbucks or regular cafeterias.

With this launch, Mercadona continues to delve into new additions to its coffee catalogue. A few weeks ago, the company surprised with and became a sales success.
