Photoshop is an ideal program for photographic retouching. In fact, one of its main uses is precisely photo editing. However, due to its advanced Photoshop options, we could classify it more as a photo manipulation program.

The difference between a simple touch up and a manipulation is how severe the changes are. While retouching could be something like adjusting brightness, saturation, white balance, etc., with Photoshop you can go much further, allowing for severe manipulations, where you can change element textures, add or remove elements from the photo or change the shapes of objects, without all these alterations being easy to detect by a common observer.

If what we want is a simple photographic retouching, which allows us to do simple and useful things so that our photos gain presence and showiness, there are perhaps more elementary programs such as Adobe Lightroom. Lightroom is currently the name of Adobe’s photo cloud storage service, which also has easy editing possibilities. Lightroom Classic is the desktop program to manage day-to-day photos on our computers and make the necessary touch-ups to correct simple aspects.

If we want to manipulate and transform photos in a representative and advanced way, then Photoshop is the best option, very focused on professionals. It is also the right program when you want to do photographic composition, that is, to manage to adapt several graphic materials in the same image, so that we integrate several photos into one, in a smooth and harmonious way.
