To optimize the images you have the ImgOptimizer tool that you can use from your Customer Area.
.- Access your Customer Area ->
.- Select Hosting -> ImgOptimizer
I can’t find the directory where they are?
You have the images inside the img folder that you will find in the root of your prestashop installation
I also don’t understand how to put expiration time to the images
I suppose you mean a Google warning, to solve it edit the htacces file that you will find in the root of your installation and add the following code:
ExpiresActive on ExpiresDefault “access plus 7 day”
