Raquel Sánchez, Minister of Transport: “I am not going to sit down with a group of violent radicals”

The Minister of Transport, Raquel Sánchez, calls for calm and not to legitimize the violent actions of “far-right groups” who “are trying to subdue this country, who are substituting the word for sticks, stones and nails” within the framework of the strike of carriers who, without counting on the sector’s employers, CNTC, have achieved . “I’m not going to sit down with a group of radicals who are acting violently,” she said.

“We have concluded the meeting that I called with all the social agents that participate in the sectors that are the responsibility of this Ministry,” Sánchez began by saying. “I must recognize the tone, the predisposition to help and lend a hand to the productive fabric as a whole,” he said, admitting that he has asked them to transfer to the ministry in the next few hours or days the proposals or ideas that will be immediately applicable to alleviate the consequences of the Ukrainian crisis.

“We are not talking about a strike or a lockout”, he stressed, recalling that the CNTC, which is the interlocutor of the Ministry of Transport “and who legitimately represents the interests of the sector”, does not support this mobilization. “It is a minority part of the ultras, in many cases of the ultra-right, who are using acts of violence to vindicate,” he affirmed emphatically. In this sense, he asked that the negotiations continue to be carried out by the democratically elected committee less than a year ago.

When asked about the reasons for linking the mobilizations with far-right groups, Sánchez pointed out that it is known from “the statements” made by some of their spokespersons and because it is seen that “the far-right is supporting this and that they are even encouraging the demonstrations this Saturday”, he admitted. “We are not going to give in to this blackmail, sabotage and boycott that wants to prevent us from guaranteeing the,” she summed up.
