Run the Woocommerce installation wizard again – .com

In this tutorial we see how to run the Woocommerce installation wizard again in the event that we have had a problem the first time.

WooCommerce Setup Wizard

WooCommerce has a setup wizard that guides us through various steps to configure essential plugin settings.

Over the years it has been modified, and currently works as follows:

This method is very comfortable because through ten steps we have WooCommerce configured. Five to enter store details, and five to set basic parameters.

But sometimes it may be that for various reasons the wizard does not appear, that it gives us an error or even that we simply want to run it again for whatever reason. How do we do it?

Run the WooCommerce wizard again

Well, we simply have to go to the WooCommerce help section and run it again. We will find this section in the upper right part of most WooCommerce pages.

We must click on the “Help” label in the upper right menu

This will display a section in which we will see several options, where we must select “Configuration Wizard”.

The configuration wizard panel shows us three options.

And in that section we will find three Woocommerce onboarding options:

  • Profile Setup Wizard
  • Things to do
  • New integration experience

In principle, and if everything went well, you should have the first two activated (Profile Configuration Wizard and Task List) and the last one deactivated (New integration experience).

Profile Setup Wizard

The first option tells us “If you need to activate or deactivate the configuration wizard again, please click on the following button.”

If we do, the wizard will be executed from the beginning, where we give all the data of our store, that is, the beginning of the video:

The option “Profile configuration wizard” sends us to the beginning

This option is recommended in the event that it has not been initially executed due to an error or we want to modify the data that we had initially entered.

Things to do

The second option tells us “If you have to activate or deactivate the task list, please click the following button.”

If we do, it will send us directly to the internal task page to finish configuring WooCommerce, which we can see from minute 5 of the video.

This option allows us to import sample products, customize our store, set shipping costs, taxes and payment methods.

It is very common to execute this option if at the time we do not import sample products, and we want to have a few to see how our store looks.

New integration experience

The third option tells us “To deactivate the new WooCommerce integration experience click the following button”

This option allows us to deactivate the new assistant, and return to the previous one, which was simpler and everything was executed without being inside the control panel.

I do not recommend disabling this option unless you are having technical problems running the new wizard. But if that were the case, and you can only do it the other way, here is an old video in which we see how it was done:

Shortcuts

A quick way to follow these same steps is through these direct links:

To run the profile setup wizard from scratch:

https://name-of-your-domain.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=wc-admin&reset_profiler=1

To run the task list again:

https://name-of-your-domain.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=wc-admin&reset_task_list=1

Of course, you must modify the part of the URL in red for your corresponding domain.

WooCommerce Default Pages

Another very common case is that during the installation wizard the WooCommerce pages have not been installed or have been deleted by mistake.

If that is the case, it is not necessary to run the entire wizard or tasks again, we can simply do it in “WooCommerce / Status / Tools”, in the option “Create WooCommerce default pages”.

As the description text indicates, this tool will install all missing WooCommerce pages, but the already defined and configured pages will not be replaced.

With what you can also use this option if only one page is missing, since the rest will not be affected.

Summary and conclusion

The WooCommerce installation wizard is very useful, but sometimes we may want to run it again if it failed the first time or we want to modify some parameter.

In such case we can execute again both the profile configuration wizard and the task list through the upper right help menu that we have in the WooCommerce pages.
