How to Make Microsoft Edge Show Downloads at the Bottom of the Window

Starting from version 90, Microsoft Edge displays downloads at the top of the window by default. If you prefer having downloads at the bottom, you can achieve this by creating a shortcut in Windows 10.

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Open the Start menu and search for “Microsoft Edge”.
  2. In the search results, right-click on “Microsoft Edge” and select “Open file location.”
  3. In the File Explorer window that opens, right-click on “Microsoft Edge” and select “Open file location” once again.
  4. You will now see “msedge.exe”, which is the location of the Edge executable file.
  5. Right-click on “msedge.exe” and select Send To > Desktop (create shortcut). This will create an icon labeled “msedge.exe – Shortcut” on your desktop.
  6. Close the File Explorer window. On your desktop, right-click on the newly added shortcut and select “Properties” from the menu.
  7. In the “Properties” window, click on the “Shortcut” tab. In the “Destination” box, place your cursor after the last citation, and press the space bar. Type the following: --disable-features=msDownloadsHub
  8. Save your changes by clicking “Apply” and then “OK” at the bottom of the window.

Your custom Edge desktop shortcut is now set up. Use this shortcut whenever you want Edge to show the download panel at the bottom. Your other Edge shortcuts will still display the download bar at the top.

Pinning the Shortcut

To access this shortcut quickly, you can pin it to the Start menu or the taskbar:

  • To add it to the Start menu, right-click the shortcut and select “Pin to Start.” It will now appear in the right pane of the Start menu.
  • To add it to the taskbar, right-click the shortcut and select “Pin to taskbar.”
