The problem with putting a background image that occupies the entire screen is that it has to adapt to all browser sizes, that is, each user can be viewing your website with a different screen size.
In order to achieve this, there are some Joomla extensions that allow you to choose the background image and make it occupy the entire available screen width, adapting automatically.
