The average price of Madrid Barcelona high-speed tickets fell by 49% with the arrival of Ouigo

Trainline has prepared a study based on internal data on the evolution of prices since the liberalization of the railway sector in Spain. According to Trainline data, since the entry of Ouigo, the first competitor to arrive in May 2021, the average price of tickets for the Madrid-Barcelona route has fallen by 49% compared to previous data from the pandemic.

This notable drop in prices, as well as the greater supply available, have been reflected in consumer demand, so that ticket sales have multiplied by four since May 2021 compared to pre-pandemic records. .

Likewise, the Madrid-Barcelona route, the route on which Iryo will operate from November 25, 2022, is also the favorite of travelers in Spain, followed by the Madrid-Valencia, Madrid-Seville, Barcelona-Paris and Madrid routes. -Malaga.

After the agreement with Iryo, trailine will thus sell the tickets of all the high-speed companies that currently operate on the Madrid-Barcelona route, offering a greater number of alternatives for traveling and more competitive prices for passengers. The service that Iryo will provide on this route will translate into 32 daily frequencies -16 round trips- between Madrid and Barcelona, ​​which means that there will be at least one trip every hour.
