The One already has an owner. The most expensive mansion in the United States has been sold for 126 million dollars (115 million euros to change) in an auction without minimum bids or reserves. He, whose identity has not been released, will have to pay an auction premium of 15 million, so the total bill amounts to 141 million, according to The Wall Street Journal.
The megamansion is located in the exclusive neighborhood of Bel-Air (Los Angeles) and has an area of 20,000 square meters. Inside it has 21 rooms, 42 bathrooms, a garage for 30 cars, bowling, five, a beauty salon, a gym and even an area dedicated to charity events. Its appraisal value reached 500 million dollars.
The original owner of the exclusive property is the promoter Nile Niami, a former film producer and well-known figure in American show business. The construction of The One generated millionaire debts to his company, which ended up declaring bankruptcy. As a consequence, Niami had to put the mansion up for auction.
As the American newspaper explains, finding a buyer for The One has been complicated due to alleged construction defects in the property and the procedure that it was annulled in 2021.
A preliminary inspection carried out by Vertex, a construction consulting company, revealed that the mega-mansion had numerous water problems due – in part – to the swimming pools. The consultants also detected cracks and stains on the floors and walls of the house, and found that The One was not in compliance with approved architectural plans and permits. In fact, he still doesn’t have a certificate of occupancy from the city, which means it’s not legal to live there.
