The president of the Region of Murcia, Fernando López Miras, of the PP, will remain at the head of the regional Executive after rejecting the Assembly thanks to the fact that three of the six Cs deputies voted against after having signed it when it was registered.
As expected, the plenary session of the Murcia Assembly knocked down the initiative with 21 votes in favor (17 from the PSOE, two from Ciudadanos and another two from Unidas Podemos) and 23 against (16 from the PP, four from Vox and: the vice president of the Government, Isabel Franco, and the also deputies Francisco Álvarez and Valle Miguélez) and one abstention, that of the also deputy of Cs Alberto Castillo.
The president of the PP, Pablo Casado, and his general secretary, Teodoro García Egea, traveled to Murcia to celebrate that the Government will remain thanks to the negotiation that made the three deputies of Cs change their vote.
López Miras himself, in the debate, reaffirmed the commitments he had made when he came to power in this region and called to “hold until the last breath” because “nothing has changed, at least for those of us who understand what honor and duty are.” ” despite the “authentic irresponsibility” of those who promoted the failed motion of censure.
He also announced that he will formally request that the “insults” that the representatives of the PSOE, Podemos and Ciudadanos have poured out on the members of the Governing Council be removed from the Sessions Journal. “This region does not deserve to go down in history for a chapter as unworthy as the insults we have seen today.”
He charged against the representative of the PSOE, Diego Conesa, when prosecuting that he has been “out of his mind” and “has lost his temper” during the debate on this motion of censure. “He has used the worst arts of the mafias against the members of the Governing Council of the Region of Murcia,” he criticized, criticizing him for speaking of corruption “when he is the first and only defendant in this House.” He also harshly dispatched the Cs leader Ana Martínez Vidal, candidate in this motion for the Presidency of Murcia, for trying to come to power through “an auction.”
The frustrated Cs aspirant
For her part, the frustrated candidate to succeed him, Ana Martínez Vidal (Citizens), snapped at López Miras that, “if he were responsible, he would call elections immediately so that the Murcians were the ones who chose their Government.”
He again justified the motion by saying that he put his “sense of duty above the comfort of looking the other way” and clarified that “it is not a response to an ideological conflict, but to an endemic evil such as the corruption of the PP” in Murcia. “Stop trafficking with our votes,” he urged the popular.
Despite the failure of the motion, Martínez Vidal was convinced that “we are going to win it even if we have fewer votes”, because “it is a turning point” and conveys “a message of hope”, despite the “dantesque spectacle” in which the popular ones “continue to justify the unjustifiable” because “they are so anchored in immorality that they normalize the most corrupt practices.” “We have won the moral debate, we have exposed the rottenness of the PP,” she interpreted.
Addressing the PP in general, he warned them that “it will never be Ciudadanos, no matter how many deputies buy”, because “the center is reached by conviction, not by merger”, and the popular “are not going to refound the center right, they will always be a stale right”. Finally, he told them that “their mafia practices will take their toll”, because “when another corruption scandal comes to light, the people of Murcia will remember this day”, and “because of this motion of no confidence, they will end up leaving” the Government .
The motion resumed its debate this morning with the intervention of the PSOE spokesman in the Murcia Assembly, Diego Conesa, who disgraced López Miras that the “image of the best land in the world is sinking” because the regional Executive has “trampled on it” with the systemic corruption of the PP. “Today begins its end,” the socialist warned the regional president.

Among the deputies elected by Vox, Juan José Liarte pointed out that the main defeat that the PSOE receives today is that “everyone in the region and in Spain has seen that socialist principles are for sale when talking about armchairs”, and that This motion of censure “has served to make the remainder of the legislature more stable and the shameful confrontation of these days makes no sense.”
In this sense, he regretted that the PSOE spokesman in the Murcia Assembly, Diego Conesa, “has set up this chicken to reach the Government” and remarked that “the main defeat he receives today is that everyone in the region and in Spain has seen that socialist principles are for sale when it comes to armchairs”.
From Unidas Podemos, María Martín said she was surprised that Ciudadanos has now realized what the PP of Murcia is like, “the most corrupt affiliate of the most corrupt party in Spain”, just for having “bought” the vote of three deputies from your group.
