The owner of Endesa assures that they are not worried that Podemos governs

Francesco Starace, CEO of Enel, has assured today in Milan in the presentation of , that “We are not worried” about the aggressiveness of Podemos against the electricity sector, nor that they govern. In the opinion of the Italian director, the important thing is that an agreement has been reached to form a government and “that there is no vote again.” For Starace, the policy being developed by the Minister of Ecological Transition, Teresa Ribera, is the correct one to try to make Spain a competitive country.

Regarding the closure of the coal plants, the top executive of Enel, owner of Endesa, indicated that the Spanish subsidiary “is doing well” and recalled that the group analyzes the profitability of the plants on an annual basis. If after this study the numbers do not come out, the company stops making investments and if it does not improve, it decides to close the facility. This is what has happened in Spain, but also in Peru or Italy, where the company has closed 23 plants with a capacity of 13,000 MW and is preparing to close another 4 facilities with a further 6,000 MW that will be replaced by other facilities, for real estate or cultural investments.

The CEO of Enel was also interested in the asset sale processes that are currently underway in Spain and confirmed the interest in ACS’s renewables, Zero-e, and in other assets for sale at this time, which described as “magical” for corporate movements in renewables.
