The Iberian stock market vehicle managed by Francisco García Paramés, Cobas Iberia C, has risen this week to third place in the elEconomista Active Management League, made up of the 34 most active Spanish stock funds, with a return of 5 .51%, after climbing one step in the ranking, with data from Morningstar as of April 3.

In the last quarterly letter, the managers of Cobas highlighted the Portuguese oil company as their star value of the month. “We mainly like Galp for its good assets. It has a very competitive portfolio with best-in-class assets in Brazil due to the low costs in the country and with a long path to improve the learning curve and the potential development of new projects of gas”, they emphasize.

The energy company, which adds 38% in 2022, has benefited greatly from the rise in prices of raw materials. Galp is not only seeing strong growth in the exploration and drilling segment, supported by high oil prices, but also in renewables.

“The evolution has also been very positive, thanks to the increase in natural gas prices and CO2 licences. They are growing their business lines, particularly renewables, proving to be leaders in reducing emissions with a CO2 footprint that is half the industry average”, justifies the manager.
