The parent company of JD Sports, Sprinter and Sport Zone, announces the acquisition of Deporvillage – Marketing 4 Ecommerce – Your online marketing magazine for e-commerce

The Catalan company for the sale of sports equipment deporvillage, founded in Manresa by Xavier Pladellorens and Ángel Corcuera, has been acquired by the British international holding company JD Sports, through Iberian Sports Retail Group (ISRG), the Group’s subsidiary for Spain and Portugal. A transaction for which the group has acquired 80% of the Spanish company for €140.4 million.

The acquisition of Deporvillage will add specialization to the group in key sports categories, significantly increase digital capabilities in the sports equipment market and with which seeks to become the multi-channel leader in the sale of sports equipment in the Iberian Peninsula.

If a few weeks ago ISRG took over the business of the Dutch Sports Unlimited Retail, holder of the ‘Aktiesport’ and ‘Perry Sport’ labels, now it has done the same with deporvillage, who will now form part of the group together with international references such as JD Sportsone of the leaders in the , Sprinter (Spain) and SportZone (Portugal).

After years of rapid growth, Deporvillage has become one of the largest online pure players in the distribution of sports equipment in Europe. Born in 2010, the company, a record year despite the covid pandemic. The explosion of digital sales, both of this company and of the sector as a whole, has facilitated the sale of the Spanish company, which this year 2021 is forecast to invoice 175 million euros.

Iberian Sports Retail Group, operates around 360 physical points of sale in the Iberian market and three online stores, while Deporvillage is a specialist in running, triathlon, swimming, fitness and outdoor sports, and currently markets its more than 90,000 items in more than 100 countries of all the world. With this latest acquisition, the ISRG group hopes to exceed 900 million in turnover, employ more than 9,000 people and make a strong international foothold encompassing more than 60 sports disciplines and 1,000 brands.
