The SEPE notice: this is your new change in the appointment system by phone

The Public State Employment Service (SEPE) obliges any citizen interested in going to its offices to make an appointment in advance to solve all kinds of procedures related to unemployment benefits. One of the two ways to get that appointment is by phone, a system that will be subject to changes during this month of May.

It has been SEPE itself that has informed that the telephone number to call to make an appointment has changed: now it will be 91 926 79 70, which can also be called at any time of day and any day of the week, since it is open 24 hours.

The reason that the SEPE has provided for this novelty is the change that it is making in its appointment request system, in which they are going to include the set of benefit offices dependent on the organization. This measure is aimed at alleviating the congestion of this service, saturated since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic.

The new telephone will replace the previous one, 91 273 83 84, but throughout the month of May you can call both the new and the old one to make an appointment. As of June, 91 926 79 70 will be definitively implemented as the only telephone number for making an appointment.

How to make an appointment at SEPE by phone

The citizen can call the previously indicated telephone numbers at any time of the day. He will answer an electronic recording whose questions he will have to answer in order to progress in the appointment reservation process.

The first step is to choose the language in which you want to do the paperwork. Then, after a waiting time, you have to indicate your postal code (a five-digit number). After that, you must press ‘1’ if you want to request a previous appointment, ‘2’ if you want to cancel one that you have previously requested and ‘3’ if you want to modify an appointment previously requested.

Subsequently, the citizen has to indicate his ID by typing the figures on the telephone keyboard (without letter). The system will guess that letter and will continue with the process when the citizen confirms that it is the correct one.

The next step is to enter the postal code again. The system will announce the offices in which there are gaps (each one of them associated with a number that you can type to choose it), although the citizen must choose the one in which he is registered as a job seeker.

The last step will be to choose the type of procedure you wish to carry out: a ‘1’ for job application and a ‘2’ for unemployment benefits. It is possible that, once this first selection is made, the system will ask you for a sub-process. Once everything is chosen, two things can happen: that there is a space available and the appointment is agreed on the agreed day and time or that there is no space and the citizen has to call another time.
