These are the cheapest supermarkets in 2021 with which you can save more than 1,000 euros

As every year, the Organization of Consumers and Users (OCU) has released its in more than a thousand establishments in 65 Spanish cities. An intense study in which it is detailed how prices have varied, after a year that was supposed to be a “return to normal” (but it has not been), and which are the supermarkets and cities that allow the most savings . And it is that, by choosing the best options, you can save up to 1,073 euros on average in the annual purchase.

The year 2021, the one that was going to be a recovery after the hardest part of the pandemic, has not left a good feeling as far as the shopping basket is concerned. This is highlighted by the OCU, which blames the increase in food prices (55% of the products have become more expensive), mainly light.

In addition, in the last 365 days, Spaniards have lost 11% of their budget, while the amount allocated to purchases has increased (at least more than 4,000 euros are spent in supermarkets per year). This situation leaves more families vulnerable and therefore it becomes more essential to know how to find the best savings option.

Thus, while the cities with the most alternative establishments allow savings of more than 3,500 euros a year, there are others that only move in a range of 325 euros. Everything to make an average that exceeds the quoted 1,000 euros (10% more than the 2020 average) and where an Alcampo hypermarket triumphs, again, in Murcia.

Alcampo, leader in savings for another year

This establishment is once again the cheapest in all of Spain, leading the ten cheapest places in 2021. Of course, also flanked again by other Alcampo venues (Sant Adrià de Besòs, Barcelona, Vigo and Esplugues de Llobregat) the loss of The strength of the Spanish-French chain in that ranking is notable, since in 2020 it had 9 of the top 10 positions.

The list is completed by a wide variety of chains such as a Family Cash in Valencia, a Tifer in Burgos, a Eurospar in Badajoz and a Dani in Granada. In addition, the latter of a regional nature (eastern Andalusia) stands out as, above Alcampo, which is the first to operate throughout the national territory.

Sánchez Romero continues to have the most expensive establishments for the OCU, in full purchase by El Corte Inglés

Mercadona and Carrefour, for their part, are the other companies that appear the most throughout the Spanish geography, but with great differences. The Valencian has the cheapest establishment in up to 17 cities, by 23 in Alcampo, while the gala only gets two locations, far removed from the cheap supermarket ratings.

On the other side of the coin, Sánchez Romero () continues to be the most expensive chain in all of Spain, as well as having the establishment with the highest prices (La Moraleja, Alcobendas), according to the institution. A rating that, as the chain itself points out to elEconomista.es, they do not consider appropriate given that the study “compares leading brands with white brands, only looks at prices and not features or categories and includes different supermarkets on different days with variations even of months”, among various issues.

Finally, continuing with the most expensive positions in the OCU classification, Sorli Discau, Supermercados Plaza, Suma and Amazon () close these high positions that show that you can save, and a lot, depending on where you decide to fill the shopping cart. buys.
