Hermès opens the doors of its new Galería Canalejas store with the intention of relocating the epicenter of luxury in Madrid

If just a week ago, Status announced the opening of the Four Seasons hotel in Madrid, located inside the so-called Canalejas Center, a project destined to become the new icon of luxury in the capital, now it is the turn of Hermès, the emblematic French luxury firm, which kicks off the new Canalejas Gallery.

The 230 square meter premises occupies the corner flanked by the wide and elegant boulevards of Calle de Alcalá and Calle de Sevilla, in the heart of the capital. Being an architectural symbol of Madrid (protected monument, in fact), the façade has been restored respecting its original shape.

Exterior and interior of the new store.

The interiors -transformed by the Parisian architecture studio RDAI- achieve, through the aesthetic and emblematic language of the house, a harmonious balance between the history of the area and a new commercial vision.

The classic geometric shape of the building and its proportions provoke a sensation of open and expansive space in the passer-by, also generating a certain surprise and admiration in the mind thanks to the unmistakable Hermès seal.

Entering through Calle de Sevilla through a double door framed with motifs from the firm, visitors find an open space where light flows through the space thanks to the high white ceilings almost four meters high; the characteristic lighting formed with Grecques glass globes; Cream-toned stone walls and light-reflecting polished floors complete the setting.

Tailor-made rugs in warm tones give each universe structure and individuality. Seating, like the yellow leather sofas found throughout the store, add a warm touch and a cozy feel to the environment.

Tempered by smooth cognac leather wainscoting, cherry wood cabinetry adds warmth and depth that is enhanced by a palette of saffron, terracotta and deep orange tones with bright copper and bronze accents from the metal blinds that cover them. the Windows.

In the central hall, collections of watches, jewelry and jewelry accessories are presented. The front of the shop narrows like the prow of a ship and houses the salon of the métiers of leather and horsemanship.

The transparency of the light extends from the front to the back of the store, where a symmetrical plane is divided into two arches. One of them leads to a large space that houses men’s and women’s ready-to-wear, together with a shoe room, a selection of fashion accessories and an elegant fitting room. The other side welcomes the home universe, Parfums and Beauté where the latter will exhibit its first collection.

In the coming months, it is expected that the Gallery will register new openings, turning this corner of Madrid into a must-see for luxury tourism that -hopefully- will return to the capital very soon.
