It is possible that what I am going to tell you has happened to you on your own website or on some other website that you have visited: in the blog entries, a series of buttons are shown for each of them to share the content on social networks.

You press to share an article on Facebook, but when are you going to see the shared content inside facebook the information displayed does not seem correct: the title is not the same as that of the shared article, the image that is loaded has nothing to do with it (for example, it is the logo of the page) and neither does the description.

Why is this happening? Because Facebook does not know how to interpret what the title of the article is, nor the main image, nor the content of what is being shared.

Keep in mind that when a blog article is loaded in WordPress, not only is the article displayed on the page, but also the rest of the content that is displayed next to it: the web logo, the main menu, some widgets in a side column and in the footer, etc.

That is why Facebook may not be clear about the exact content being shared.

And how do we fix this? With OpenGraph.

Without going into technicalities, Open Graph is a tag series that are added to the code of the page, invisible to the web visitor, which help Facebook and other social networks like Twitter and Google+ to identify the main elements of the article that you want to share: title, image, description, etc.
