WordPress automation course #4. Automating BuddyPress – .com

In the fourth class of the WordPress automation course we are going to see how to automate BuddyPress, the plugin to convert WordPress into a social network.

And it is that BuddyPress provides WordPress with several Facebook-style social network features. So, we can have our timeline, updates, friends or even groups.

We are going to see how we can automate several tasks that will be executed automatically when someone interacts on our social network. Go for it!

We already have it! As you can see, here we have not only added several triggers, but also several actions.

And it is that the integration with BuddyPress allows us to create events not only in the social network itself, but also with WordPress itself or the rest of the plugins that we have installed.

On this occasion, to finish assimilating what we have learned in the lesson, I recommend programming the following updates:

  • Every time someone changes their avatar or cover art, send them an email and announce it on the personal and global timeline.
  • Every time someone completes their profile to 100%, add them to a VIP or veteran customer forum.
  • Every time someone posts an update, send an email to the administrator with a copy to the author.

These automations are just a few examples of what we can do, so I encourage you to create your own too, using both triggers and BuddyPress actions.

In this case we can even establish an automation so that it must be executed in a specific order, such as: Register, complete the profile, post an update and join a group. Let’s do all kinds of tests!
