WorldPathol plans to invest 7.5 million and create 14 new jobs in 2022

The company specialized in R&D in pharmaceutical biotechnology has fifty employees and has invested more than 12 million euros in research and development from 2011 to 2020.

WorldPathol, which is celebrating its tenth anniversary, plans to invest 7.5 million euros next year and immediately expand its workforce with 14 new high-tech workers. In addition, in its commitment to energy sustainability, its current production and R&D facilities will be equipped with a solar station.

The company’s plans also include building a pig analysis and experimentation center that is unique in Spain, in Mediana de Aragón, in the province of Zaragoza, which will be equipped with the first renewable and integral plant in Aragon for the elimination of slurry using microalgae. With these actions, the carbon footprint will be reduced by around 45% in one year, as reported in a press release from the Aragonese Executive.

The company’s plans have been disclosed during a visit to its facilities by the Vice President and Minister of Industry, Competitiveness and Business Development, Arturo Aliaga. The company began its business journey in Zaragoza in 2011 as an R&D company specialized in pharmaceutical recombinant biotechnology. Currently, his work focuses on business lines in the markets of animal health, human health and applied semi-industrial research in biomolecules.

From 2011-2020, the company has invested more than 12 million euros in R&D activities, which today translates into a turnover of almost 4.3 million euros. Today, WorldPathol has become a family holding with five companies. In addition to the aforementioned IDEA award in 2011, it has achieved other business recognitions, repeating the IDEA award in 2018 for its R&D business management, as well as other technological ones, such as the Technology-based Innovative Company award in 2014, the Seal of Excellence from the European Commission VACPOR in 2020 and other social, such as the most recent, the Social Responsibility of Aragon 2022.

The company, through the Comprehensive Animal Health Plan, researches and develops new veterinary vaccines and manufactures the active ingredients that are its fundamental base. He sells his designs in 55 countries and they collaborate to provide solutions to global problems, such as porcine circovirosis.

They are currently developing 17 new references in their pharmacological arsenal, with which they will cover 80% percent of the problems of farmers. As an authorized molecular diagnostic health center, they have provided service to public and private hospitals since the start of the pandemic and develop and manufacture molecular diagnostic kits without intermediaries that will avoid future local shortages of any kind. In the shared fight against current (SARS-CoV-2) and future pandemics (flu, African swine fever), it investigates new biomolecules in its level 3 biosafety laboratory, fully digitized and the only one in Spain dedicated entirely to manufacturing and testing. of antiviral drugs.
