80% of patients treated with shock waves experience an improvement in their erectile dysfunction problems

80 percent of patients treated with shock waves experience an improvement in their erectile dysfunction problems, a study conducted by the Boston Medical Group has shown.

MADRID, 19 (EUROPA PRESS)

In addition, the work reveals that after the treatment, 14 percent of the patients achieve an erection of one hundred percent and 56 percent affirm that they are able to achieve an erection sufficient for penetration during the first monthly check-up. In this line, 66 percent of the patients who participated in the study have managed to maintain satisfactory penetrative sex.

To carry out the study, men between 22 and 52 years of age and with an average of 42 months experiencing erectile dysfunction problems have been analyzed. Among them are patients who had previously tried drug treatments or intravenous injections and a third group for whom none of the previous treatments had worked.

And it is that, shock waves have been used for years to remedy problems such as kidney stones or even in physiotherapy or sports medicine. In the case of erectile dysfunction, these low-intensity waves transmit energy and accelerate self-healing processes in the body.

In addition, the transmission of shock waves locally generates a neovascularization or angiogenesis effect, which improves metabolism, stimulates the formation of microvascular blood vessel networks, and increases blood flow to erectile tissue, in order to achieve and maintain a complete and constant erection in the patient.

THE BEST RESULTS ARE SEEN FROM THE FIRST MONTH

In each session, 3,000 low-energy shock waves are applied distributed over 10 ten areas of the penis in order to act on the entire erectile tissue. The best results are observed from the first month after finishing the treatment, and the total duration is usually five weeks, with a weekly session of approximately 20 minutes.

This treatment is indicated for the majority of patients whose problem is related to erectile dysfunction of vascular origin (which is around 80% of cases). The therapy even allows patients with severe erectile dysfunction (those for whom medications don’t work) to regenerate blood vessels and start having relationships, with or without medication.

On the other hand, it is a completely safe healing process without side effects after which patients are able to return to their daily routine immediately after each treatment session. In addition, it is painless, does not require sedation or preparatory procedures, and is perfectly compatible with other pharmacological treatments.

In fact, Boston Medical Group has just presented its new low-intensity shock wave treatment, indicated for patients with erectile dysfunction of vascular origin. For this, it has relied on the experience and ‘DUOLITH’ equipment from Storz MEDICAL.

“From Boston Medical Group, we are delighted with this new stage. The use of low-intensity shock waves is undoubtedly offering us excellent results. It is a non-invasive treatment, with which our patients are experiencing a notable improvement in the quality of their erections thanks to the creation of new blood vessels, positively affecting their sexual life. From Boston Medical Group we are offering this treatment from our centers in Madrid and Barcelona, and soon we will expand to other clinics”, has settled the medical director of Boston Medical Group in Spain, José Benítez.
